Life on a Farm in Canada
I haven't been around farms or anything close to a farm since leaving Swaziland 11 years ago so I knew exactly what I was getting in to, which was quite exciting. This farm has everything from goats, chickens, livestock dogs, every vegetable imaginable, apple, pear, blackberry, fig tress, herbs, teas, quinoa trees and a lot more. But I was definetely not prepared for the snakes, I literally don't fuck with snakes.
The food has been nothing short of amazing. Harvesting your own fruits and vegies for a meal has become a thing for me. Not to forget fresh eggs the chickens produce on a daily basis. This area is filled with blackberry trees, so picking while walking to the bus is pretty normal.
I came here not knowing anyone but have met wonderful people who I get to hang out with on a daily basis. There are 3 other volunteers on this farm who are all from Germany, I've also come to realize that Germans love Canada. Getting to know them has made this solo journey memorable and fun. When I'm not on the farm, i'm either hiking to watch the sunset, at the beach, town or terrace drinking beer.
